FR The Environment Agency

The Environment Agency commissioned Architon LLP to provide from concept to completion a new office building.

This would allow the relocation of divisions across Hampshire into one office complex to form a regional headquarters. The location of the site is within the grounds of the Forestry Commission at Alice Holt in Farnham, Hampshire.

The Forestry Commission offered an unused ‘Portakabin’ style single storey building to the Environment Agency, following review of the existing structure it was decided to demolish the building, but retain the concrete slab to reduce time and costs.

The site being on the border of the South Downs National Park meant the Local Authority, East Hampshire District Council, were very keen for the new building not to distract from the surroundings, following careful negotiations the scheme successfully received planning.  Construction soon followed with a successful completion achieved on Time and on Budget.
