Architon LLP were appointed as Architect and leaders of a composite Design Team, for a specialist bio-containment fish laboratory studying exotic and endemic maritime fish to include Specialist Containment Laboratories to SAPO CL3 and containment Aquaria to SAPO CL3 with derogations, 670m²; this included 3 tank rooms and support facilities.

GM Containment Laboratories. Thermal treatment plant for all liquid waste from the laboratories. General laboratories (Virology, Pathology & Bacteriology, Immunology, Histology) including support areas (glass wash, tissue culture, microscopy, sample quarantine & chemical prep), 220m².

In addition, stores, general facility support areas, write up offices and break out areas, PM suite and processing areas for Fish Health Inspectors.

Overall the BREEAM rating for the building was “Excellent” based on a bespoke assessment.
