GSK Kitchen Servery Refurb

GSK Ware appointed Wates to carry out the re-planning and refurbishment of their current facility in Building 8.

The existing kitchens and servery provision was very large and the site no longer catered for the significant numbers envisaged when designed.  The opportunity therefore existed to reduce the “back of house” and servery offering to reflect latest trends (e.g. coffee/snack) whilst creating additional informal breakout/meeting spaces.

Building 8 is the main amenity building for the David Jack Centre/aka GSK Ware.  It was built in 1995 and had not seen major investment in 19 years.  Whilst maintenance and upkeep were very good including an early “refresh” which Architon assisted with, all areas were again looking tired and the space ripe for refurbishment.

As noted, GSK wished to modernise food preparation and seating capacity/alternative meeting/working opportunities.

Architon received a concept stage design and, as Wates D+B Architect, progressed this through Gateway approvals to delivery of design packages for Tender and then through Construction to Completion.
